Holiday’s in Maspalomas

Maspalomas is fast becoming one of the most popular resorts for families and couples alike. The resort combines natural beauty, fantastic restaurants and leading tourist attractions. 

Tourists from throughout the world flock to Maspalomas to enjoy the wonderful beaches. The calm waters surrounding Gran Canaria are perfect for swimming or diving.

The diving in Gran Canaria is world class, with many diving clubs based in Maspalomas, from which people can enjoy supervised dives. 

Behind the beach, which is a 20 minute walk from the centre of Maspalomas, is a fantastic shopping centre. The centre is home to local and international stores and a range of restaurants. Visitors can enjoy a bite to eat overlooking the beach from the shopping centre tower. 

There is also an inside and outside market which is open on Wednesday and Saturdays from 8.00 – 14.00. The very popular market is particularly good for clothes, shoes, fruit and jewellery. Tourists enjoy haggling with stall owners to pick up holiday bargains.

Visitors don’t have to look far to find local shops and restaurants to sample regional delicacies.

Maspalomas also boasts some wonderful tourist attractions. Holiday World is a real landmark, with a 27 metre high Ferris wheel, that can be seen from afar. There is also a roller coaster and a laserdome and all the fun or the fair. There are also inside attractions including amusement arcades, internet cafes, a gym and spa, two night clubs, cafes and restaurants and a very popular bowling alley.

Holiday World is a year round attraction, opening from  18.00 – 23.00 in the summer months and 17.00 – 23.000 in the winter. Holiday World looks fantastic in the evening with the bright lights and all the fun of the fair.

Another popular attraction in Maspalomas is the Botanical Park of Maspalomas. Holidaymakers staying in the resort enjoy the park situated near the golfing area of Maspalomas. There are more than 50 different species of plants in the garden, ranging from palms to vegetables, from around the world. The garden is a great place to relax, with a large sitting area, to enjoy the sunshine and the beautiful views. 

The lighthouse in Maspalomas is also a famous landmark in the resort. The lighthouse, which is thought to be 65 metres high, tool 28 years to build, it shone for the first time more than one hundred years ago, February 1st 1890, and at the time was the first structure to be built in the region surrounded by sand. Visitors often enjoy taking photographs with the famous lighthouse in the distance. 

People who love activity holidays are also well suited in Maspalomas. The resort is popular with hikers, cyclists, and surfers and diving. People also enjoy riding horses in the beautiful countryside. The clear ocean surrounding Gran Canaria is also perfect for fishing. Tourists enjoy fishing from shore or on deep sea trips.

Maspalomas also boasts some fantastic accommodation, from hotels to villas, providing a world of options for holidaymakers visiting the resort. 

The standard of accommodation in Maspalomas can be especially high. The best self-catering accommodation offers tourists private pools, pool bars and dedicated tour guides to advise guests of the best activities in the resorts. 

Getting around the resort is also very easy with punctual, safe and clean public transport and affordable taxis. 

There are also plenty of car and scooter hire companies. 

Visitors often prefer however to move around the resort by foot. The beautiful climate and landscapes can be best enjoyed when strolling around Maspalomas. 

People are often tempted to drop into a local café or bar to enjoy a leisurely drink on their way to their destination in the resort of Maspalomas.
